I have used both HostGator and BlueHost. I prefer BlueHost. (I have about 30 domains on my bluehost hosting plan that only costs me about 80 bucks a year or so)

Not to be bound my Annual contracts is a big plus.
However hosting companies generally charge more on monthly basic and generally less when you buy an annual package,so people go for yearly packages as well as the costs are down.
Hostgator looks fine for personal website hosting solutions.

Some hosting companies will refund you if you decide to leave before the end of the period you pay for. They simply work out what the monthly charge would be for the period you used them for, deduct that from what you paid, and refund the difference.

And that will be for period of time you do not use web hosting service not for full month (if that is not first month with 30 day money back guarantee)

Hi,

Linux is an operating system, when someone says Linux Web Hosting - they mean that all the software that runs your website and hosts your files, is running on a computer that runs Linux as its OS - it doesn't mean that you need to run Linux to be able to upload your files etc. The OS you run on your PC should have no effect on the choice of OS for web hosting.

Hope that helps

Thanks,

Thanks for that info.I havent decided yet but im very pleased with this forum and the help the members give. The problem i see with http://www.heartinternet.co.uk/starter-h.shtml is that they charge a vat fee.Now i could be wrong is they charge you a vat fee if you sell stuff also.

Hi,

VAT is a sales tax, companies by law are required to charge you VAT in the EU once they go over a certain threshold value of sales within their own country (and actually for distance sales within end users own countries @ their own countries rate and threshold as well, but lets not complicate things). So they would charge you VAT @ 17.5% on the monthly fee (although UK is likely to drop to 15% VAT shortly). You only charge VAT to your customers, if you are VAT registered - to do so otherwise would be an offence.

Thanks,

Try Frugal Host (frugalhost.duoservers.com).

$3/ month
$3.5/ month with free domain registration

Must be paid yearly, but at these prices, it's still a deal.

If you need/want, you can add additional features.

lol, how on Earth is it free if you pay $0.50 per month more than you otherwise would?

With most web hosting you pay for what you get and similar hosting will be at a similar price. The cheap hosting will therefore be that level of hosting that gives you those features you need for your site and omits those you don't.

If you are just starting up, probably it wont' take much resources for a few months atleast. I suggest you to go for a free host, and when you start getting income and traffic move on to a paid host.
►ExpertWebHost.NET- Quality, reliable hosting service since 2008
►Instant Budget CPanel hosting- 24x7 Support
►Litespeed- Softaculous- RVSitebuilder- R1Soft backups

The cheapest host gator is not good at all IMO…

You only get to use 1 domain name if you want to switch they charge you to do it and the ftp transfer tools are weak (3 files at a time)

You can get better packages for the same price or cheaper.

Zipperz, I see you condemning HG all over the forum. I guess you haven't had a good time with them.
Actually, I transfer 8 files at a time with them over ftp. So, I don't know when the 3 file limit came up. I think you chose their hatchling plan which allows one domain per account. Their baby/business plans offer unlimited domains. Hope it helps

Yes I have the small plain and it bites..

And pay extra to upload 8 files at a time? lol
wow so impressive, I should brake out the credit card.

I should of never bought it and why pay extra for stuff you get for the basic price anywhere else.

Yes I feel I got a bad deal all my other hosts are the same price or cheaper and all offer more and are better.
I wish I could get a refund.
