Web pages display problem in IE, works good in firefox
Hello,
I am new to web designing. I am creating a website for my learning process (uploaded the pages) but facing a problem. The pages look good in firefox (all alignments, settings, etc) but this is not the case with IE. All the alignments, settings, etc are changed with IE. I have checked the source code as well but both (firefox & IE code) are same, there is no change.
I have no idea why is this happening. Help me please.
P.S. IE version is 6.0.

Internet explorer has a large number of bugs.
The bigger bugs have been given pride of place on Explorer Exposed. Check there to see if any of your problems appear to be related, because they have good solutions for them.

Just one more question. The website's homepage contains flash work (banner, navigation bar & slides show). Is it that IE6 problematic with flash as well? I could not find the bugs related with IE6 & flash on the site referred earlier. The other pages just have flash navigation bar on them but they are displayed quite well.

The ones from the referenced site relate only to css.
I myself don't know that much about flash bugs as tey relate to IE6, but I'm sure that others most definitely will.

It happened ever also with me, when i open my website in firefox it goes good but if i open my website in IE it looks like ugly and layout totally get changed. so must target IE coz most of the internet user use IE to browse net.
That would be bad advice. Better advise would be to target the standards-based browsers, then use IE conditional comments to handle the IE specific problems. The ideal is to display it all the same in each browser.Originally Posted by Neeraj23
In order to check the problem with IE, I again made the same page in Dreamweaver with all the same features following the same steps just one little thing different and it is working good with both the browsers.
I used to put all the div tags (banner, menu bar, slideshow) in a base div tag i.e. container. for ex:
which later I changed to:<body>
<div id="container"> //holds other div tags like in a plate we put a sandwich and sauce.

Just placing the "banner" tag out of the "container" tag and aligning this tag to "center" solved the problem with IE. I tried removing "container" tag completely but resulted in all mess up. Or I can conclude that "container" acts as an organiser/ holder.<div id="banner"> //align to center
