Fitting an Adsense ad into a layout -- more space than expected is taken up.

    Hi.

Is there default formatting around a Google Adsense ad that takes up more space than the size of the ad itself?

I have been trying to place a 234x60 Adsense banner next to a 234x60 image, and they just won't line up next to each other. The non-Adsense unit keeps being pushed lower compared to the Adsense unit. Not all the way under it, though, they are partially side-by-side.

Is there a way around this?

    Hi!
Do you have some padding or margin for your images in your css? That could be the reason.
Do you have an url, where we can have a look?

Sorry, didn't get the topic notification email.

The images are within a div with all padding set to 0. I am not sure where else any padding or margins might sneak in from. I certainly don't see any padding or margins when the single, full-size image is displayed.

    The url is this: http://asoiaf.westeros.org/

The ad below the board name banner at the top varies between a full-size google ad and a half size google and and a regular image ad.
