    [Tutorial] Making a Folding Circle

May be you find this kind of tutorial on other sites but I have written it myself for the first time.

This is what we are going to design:

    ---------------------------------------

    Step 1:

Create a new document of any size and draw a circle in there.

    Step 2:
Ctrl + Click the layer to make the selection and choose the Polygonal Lasso Tool and also choose the "Substract From Selection" Tool from the top menue

    Step 3:
Now cut the selection as shown in the image below

Now right click and select "Layer Via Cut". It will cut the selection from the rest of the circle.

    Step 4:
Now select the layer of the top part of circle and press Ctrl T and right click > Flip Horizontal ... again Right click > Flip Vertical. It will give you an image something like this.

Put the TOP part's layer above of the bottom's part of the circle.

    Step 5:
Go to Layer > Layer Style > Gradient Overlay and choose the gradient of these colors

Use Drop Shadow with following settings

After doing the above settings, your image should look like this

    Step 6:
Now adjust the top part and fit it correctly. and your folding circle is ready

    Here is my image

Please do try this tutorial and let me know your result.

It is a good tutorial. But do you know how to make an animated graphic that opens up when a mouse is placed over it. Just like some famous blogs out there.

Animations can be done with Adobe Imageready. But I really don't understand what graphic you are talking about.

If you can show me the the graphic I can tell you how it is made.

Looking good, but I think you didn't choose the right colors for gradient.. I am not seeing white shade in there.

And to make the high resolution images you need to create files using high resolution. More resolution more better.

Realising there are not so many Fireworks resources explaining how to do this type of button/sticker/label, I've put up a tutorial geared towards Adobe Fireworks users :-)

    It can be found here

Thanks for the inspiration jahangir and making me put my head down and write my first graphics tutorial :-)

Nice tutorial. Is there any maths behind the gradient colours or did you just use trial and error? Just wondering about using this effect with other colours. Say starting with a base colour of #000066 would you just play around with the other colours till they looked right or can you calculate them? Thanks.

That's a neat little tutorial that is extremely well written. Thank you.
