I'm looking for a simple, easy way of keeping track on a PC of my time and billing client projects. Suggestions?

I'm looking for something not quite that simple. Something that will summarize by client and end up in an invoice with time spent on what documented.

I use a site called time.onrails.org to keep track of time spent on a project. It's a very simple web app and works well for just such a thing. It doesn't have any billing functionality, but still a good tool.

Thanks, Crey. I took a look. Only problem is, I do need billing functionality.

The project timer on time.onrails.org is really very good. In fact, I am really impressed. It far surpasses anything I have seen before.

I have been using the clockmytime.com desktop widget which I would recommend. I have been using it to track the time I have spent on my client's projects. It has been very simple to use without any complex installation or updates. For the billing I can run a report for just that client and then print out or export the output. All very simple.

I just found an awesome app this morning. https://stopwatch.dev.java.net/

It breaks down by client, project and then task so you can be highly organized and still know how much you need to bill a client for a given project. It also reports how much time you worked in a given day, which should help stay dedicated.

I'm very, very impressed and satisfied with this little app.

It's old school, but RT is good (Best Practices Request Tracker). It's a ticketing system that you can query with it's Perl modules to get billing data, time spent etc based on time logged on certain tickets in certain categories/queues.

Well I know one company (hesiod software) which is developing a tool to do that I think you can find it if you search for Premember. Because it's still a beta it's free, I think that if you get in on their beta program now, they'll give you a free copy when they release the final version.
