    O.K, I'm adding a search box to my site which you can see at http://users.breathemail.net/daniel.clough/

    Eventually it will be aligned right, but what is driving me crazy is the gap that is automatiacally created at the bottom. Its like an invisible <br> that pushes the table down and looks horrible. I plan to have horizontal links along this top table, but I want it to be aheight of 30 as speicifed in the html.

    Please does anyone know how to have the table the same height as the search box. I have seen it on other sites but can't think right now of them. Their code however looks the same as mine!!!

    Thanks this is really bugging me....

    That's funny: I've just the opposite on my site. When I nest a table in another table, that one stays in the middle, while I would rather see it at the top...

    <table width="700" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0">
    <tr><td height="30" bgcolor="#EEEEEE">

    If you place HERE a [br] tag, it should work, I think

    <!-- Atomz.com Search HTML for wannabebig -->
    <form method="get" action="http://search.atomz.com/search/">
    <input size=15 name="sp-q">
    <input type=submit value="Search">
    <input type=hidden name="sp-a" value="000905fa-sp00000000">
    </form>

    </td></tr>
    </table>

    I hope this is what you meant...

    I think you misuderstood me...

    What you said will v align the search box center (or in other words make the space eith side the same) but I want there to be NO vertical space up or below the box. I want the table height to be the same as the search box height.

    The table is 30 high which should be enough for the search box. How come a big space below the box appears ? Does the <FORM> tag take up space ?? ? ?

    Arrrghhh, this is REALLY buggin me.....

    Hi,

    You may have an inadvertent, invisible newline character embedded in your code. Remove the spaces between the html tags in question (</td></form> )so that the greater than & lesser than signs abut each other.

    Try making the table height something about 10 or 15 or so. Because the table is to small by then, the table will be aligned around the searchbox. I hope this works.

    Cloughie: yes, the closing FORM tag may be the problem here...I had the same problem awhile back and Quinn (d3v) was kind enough to provide me with this code, which fixed my problem:

    <span style="display:none"></form></span>

    Hope it works!
