can't seem to reference movieclip

so i've got a movieclip, and a button inside it. But i can't seem to get the right 'path' to reference the movie clip from the button.

I've tried 'this._parent', 'this' and neither work.

Do i need to convert my button into a movieclip to do this? if so, how do you get the cursor interactivity that you do with a button? (hand icon onHover).

Yes coz when you call this in a button then it points to _level0 (root) instead of the button.

In order to get the hand cursor, simply give a rollOver and rollOut event to the movieclip.
