It's the name of my blog, but if you thought it said 'artistic' I can only assume that you've never gone there. It can be called many things, but 'artistic' ain't one of 'em.

Oh, that doesn't explain everything? Well then. The name comes from Douglas Adams's wonderful novel Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency, where is mentioned a rock band with the improbable name “Pugilism and the Third Autistic Cuckoo”.

Amazingly, the domain name was available on the first try …

I get told I speak gibberish a lot when I try to explain my ideas while coding and developing architectures. I've come to realize people I tend to work with don't want to know how it works just that is does.

Now I use the name as a handle for every board I frequent and even as character names in games (currently in Warhammer Online and Age of Conan).

Gibberish is even my license plate number on my car, though spelled slightly differently to fit. I did this for the reason above but also because I can never make out half the personalized licenses plates out there so it's a joke in that regard.

revs.org was one of the domains I was most proud of when I was heavily into dropcatching, so I made it my personal website and then it became my username.

Well, I have mostly phased out using JediMasterXP on most sites and services and now use JediCharles. Both names derive from being an avid Star Wars fan... Kinda obvious, eh? JediMaster has been taken most everywhere so back when Windows XP was new I decided to add XP to the end of JediMaster. But after several years it occurred to me that maybe basing a username on the name of an operating system that was being phased out was not such a good idea. And using my first name seemed more personable to use hence JediCharles. Now I wish I could switch usernames here without creating a new account.

Mine came from the old classic game Ultima V. On one of the islands is a sign, that when translated from the runes, mentioned that it was the island of Sperlock the Strange.

Ok, now I'm using JediCharles... I'll just redo my profile... I will have to rebuild my ranking but oh well.

So interesting to read all the explanations for those names.

Mine came about when I painted a large picture some 20 years ago. It turned out to be an almost portrait of myself. This picture of a very self assured woman standing in a landscape graced by Datura Sanguinea and being dressed to look like one of the tall flowers of this plant stuck this name to me. I happen to have some of the characteristics of this Datura.

Tall, self assured, attractive, interesting and also poisonous if need be. A flower to be respected. I could have never identified with a humble little forget-me-not So this was a natural choice for me.

It's either a combination of Brian Boru the Great Irish Warrior and the second name of the Great Irish Emancipator Daniel O'Connell or that it's my real name. Not sure really.

Josh, I was close in my guess. I thought you were using the name of one of the Amber Princes from the Zelazny novels. And kudos for remembering Gordon R. Dickson, one of the late greats of SF and fantasy.

Tommy, I should have gotten this, considering Mrs. Max was a close friend of Douglas Adams for over 20 years....

I remember that game! Played it for months and never, ever finished it, even after buying a cheat guide. I can almost remember what was defective...some sort of harpsichord that was supposed to do something that, well, wouldn't. That was back in the day of my amber-and-black-monitor Packard Bell PC, when I was "Toejumper" online. (That one came from my late, lamented cat Mira.)

My current and probably forever name can be explained now that the statute of limitations has run out.... "Black Max" was the name of my (cough) bong in college. Made out of some kind of heavy plastic, big and tough enough to be used as a cudgel in case of burglaries.

I get called Jantheman because I tend to like doing 'guy' things (think beer, steak, watching cricket, not doing housework... ) rather than girly stuff.

I'm also good at forgetting birthdays and school excursions. I need a wife.

I think you can. I'm sure one of the guys here switched his username a little while back.

Try contacting the staff, they can probably help with this.

I'm a jerk, a real jerk, and other people seem to agree.
So I declared it right away to avoid confusion later on.
