Can anyone tell me why sometimes when I try accessing a .php3 page on my server it gives me the save dialog box but when I access other .php3 pages in another folder on my server they open/load fine?

Do I need to put a .htaccess file in every folder with the entry "AddType application/x-httpd-php3 .php" in it does anyone know?

    Thanks

    Very Strange

Some of the .php3 files loaded fine and others gave me the save dialog box. Not to worry though, I just renamed them all to .php and all worked fine.

Can anyone fill me in on why this happened anyway?

    Thanks

    AddType application/x-httpd-php3 .php

That ought to work fine...works great for me. If it doesn't work for you (in the .htaccess file of course), then try contacting your webhost.

Thanks for the reply Chris. I have already tried that line in the .htaccess but it didn't make any difference. The really strange thing is that some .php3 files in the same folder work and others don't.

That is truly bizzare...who are you hosted with? I'd recommend emailing them about it.

I'd also upload identical (save for the file names) PHP scripts with different extensions to make sure the problem is with the server and not with the scripts.
