    Question HTML document vs file

    Hello!

I am using TextWrangler to update my church's site.

I wrote a new page by copying most of an old page, except for the middle content, and it saved as an HTML file. When I double-click it, it opens in TW, not in a browser. I can "open with" to force it to open in a browser.

Yet my older files do open in a browser when double-clicked.

The difference seems to be file vs document.

How do I convert HTML file to HTML document?

    Much obliged for any help!

    Polly

You can force your computer to always open this type of file with a selected application like IE, Firefox etc. To do this there are 2 ways:
    1) Right click on file > Properties. The "Opens With X Change... Select the application (X is the application that by default opens the file)
    2) Right click on the file > Open With > Choose Program... Select the application to always open the file (or browse to the application) check the "Always use selected program to open this type of file" click Ok.

This should be able to always open the file (by default) with the selected application.

I might have been told wrong, or got the wrong idea. However on a Mac, the OS opens the file in the program that created it. Again I might be wrong about this. But FYI an HTML file is an HTML document, there is no conversion needed in this case.
    Logic without the fatal effects.

    That was it exactly!

    Thanks so much!

And logic_earth, you're right. So I had to do what J said to convince the document to open in what I wanted.
