Question What is Your Favourite Wordpress Theme

    Hi everyone

Would be interested to know what everyone's favourite Wordpress theme is for self-hosting, especially anyone with experience of any magazine-style themes they would like to recommend.

The ones I usually recommend can normally be found on www.smashingmagazine.com in their WordPress section - even though I personally think the code isn't "up to snuff".

But the code used is meant to be usable by the vast majority of of people though, so what works for you probably won't work for me (I'm too strict - and too much of a perfectionist - for my own good when it comes to code sometimes).

    I liked this healthexercisepro.com

The theme is simple and compact.Very easy to see and browse the site. The site is also actually very good. It all about quit smoking.

And there are few more sites which are good like one in my signature. This site is excellent..Really helped me a lot.

There are some free magazine themes out there. They will need work to be molded to your exact needs but it gives a start:

    Massive News:
    http://www.wpelements.com/2008/01/15...rdpress-theme/

    Branford Magazine:
    http://www.der-prinz.com/2008/01/20/...nfordmagazine/

    Wynton Magazine:
    http://www.der-prinz.com/2008/04/21/...yntonmagazine/

I am using the Proximity Wordpress theme to build a site currently. I wanted to use one of the Revolution themes but they were above the budget I set when I purchased. The author of the Revolution themes will be releasing new GPL themes on November 1st though.

Nettuts.com has a few articles on creating your own magazine theme with example code that can be used.

Total self-promotion: The Bible Scholar theme, the Ministry theme, and the Ministry free theme are all great, skinnable designs, and I designed them. They're free, GPL. Two are semi-magazine style and one is just very clean and all are easily skinnable. I'd like to thank the academy...

egracecreative - your themes are really nice. They're a little different most of the generic junk that is out there too.

But the code in the Ministry theme says the following:
License: Under a single user license, this theme may be modified and used on one domain, but not re-sold or transferred. Under a multi-site license, this theme may be modified and used on unlimited domains that are registered to the purchaser, but not re-sold or transferred. Under a developer's license, this theme may be modified and used as the basis of designs for multiple sites and clients, but the theme itself may not be sold or transferrered.

I really like elegance by beauty, but have to say I prefer to make my own. Whenever I use a theme I feel like I have to customize it to my own liking anyways, by the time its done it would have been easier and cleaner if I had made it myself.

This thread is building up a nice collection of themes, thanks to everyone for contributing. I'm not sure which one is in the lead, but I've heard the Brandon Magazine theme mentioned a few times, so I'd say that get's the vote at the moment.

My personal favourite is the Arthemia theme by Michael Jubel, which you can read about here:

    http://michaelhutagalung.com/2008/08...d-the-updates/

and see how I've used it on my site.

I don't have any favorite because I think that a blog theme should be different from oterh bloggers so that it could get notice.
