Are you talking about Jakob Nielsen's useit.com?
Birnam wood is come to Dunsinane
yeah but that link went to a 404, use a search engine to search for:
'Jakob Nielsen's 10 usability heuristics' and you can get the correct link, i have 4 books from the guy although they are somewhat outdated, they are also helpfull.
Ten Usability Heuristics
1. Visibility of system status
2. Match between system and the real world
3. User control and freedom
4. Consistency and standards
5. Error prevention
6. Recognition rather than recall
7. Flexibility and efficiency of use
8. Aesthetic and minimalist design
9. Help users recognize, diagnose, and recover from errors
10. Help and documentation
Jakob is also making a presentation this November at the User Experience 2008 in Chicago and Amsterdam. See http://www.nngroup.com/events/ for more information.

The only thing that's always been strange about Jacob Nielsen is that despite being a guru of web usability, he has on the of ugliest websites around. Always thought that was goofy.
Yeah I can somewhat agree with you there, basically when usability comes in web design goes out because your always thinking about where people will click and how to make it better for them so that consists of faster loading times, i actually stripped my own site down yesterday and made a none image related site with the exception of my portfolio but then redesigned it because i didn't like it and i had to sacrifice some usability to get it how i liked but still trying to decrease page loading times, or maybe he's too busy to change his site or maybe he's not a designer.
Some people just don't like that simple approach which web 2.0 designs bring yet some do take your website for example it looks good but some would say its not professional its just matter of opinion so with that said maybe he thinks his looks right for his target audience which in the end is all that matters since he's telling people about usability and not selling web design/development.
