    WordPress 2.6.2

I have been trying for weeks to get an answer to my questions at WP website to no avail. Hopefully an experienced WP user can help.

The images below explain my questions, but just in case I will list them here.

    1. I have read tons of info on Trackback/Pingback but it is clear as mud. I would probably get by without understanding, but I get these emails saying I have a Trackback. Without quite understanding what it is for, I'm not sure if I should delete or keep the Trackback on my site. So -- what is a trackback and how do you know if a trackback is worth keeping or not?

    2. My second question is more of a concern. When I click the "Send a Trackback" on my blog (right above the comment section), I get a 404 error. Not sure if this is a WP bug or typical. Any info on this would be appreciated.

    The site is at: http://www.online-money.org/

Thanks in advance for any help.

The trackback link is what is used when other blogs write a post about your post. If you look at the link's tooltip, you'll see "Copy this URI to trackback this entry". For example, say I write a post like.
Blah, blah, blah, I found an interesting site [link to your site] that says this about that. Blah, blah, blah.
Then when I publish my post, I submit the trackback link, in this case http://www.online-money.org/trackback/, The blog app will take a portion of my post and show it as a "trackback" comment under your post, linking to my post.

If you get an email saying you have a trackback, then it sounds like you need to moderate and approve them before they appear as comments under your post.

I don't know why. But it could be your permalink structure, or maybe the way that post is the index page. For example, my trackback URIs look like
    http://www.mittineague.com/blog/2008/09/importance-of-good-models/trackback/
    http://www.mittineague.com/blog/2007/04/clean-options-plugin/trackback/
etc. If I click on the trackback link, it goes to the post, same as it would without the "trackback/" part.

I see this trackback link on your site does work OK.
    http://www.online-money.org/home-page/marketing-article/trackback/
so I suspect it has more to do with the "depth", i.e. it's not the home page, but "deeper".

Your second questions sounds like you are trying to send a track back on your own post. I don't think you can.
