Do you think Web 2.0 is required for success?

Do you think implementing AJAX and Web 2.0 theory into a website is required now days if you really expect it to take off?

The reason I ask is I am wondering if its better to switch fully to Web 2.0 now than having to do it when it is 'required'.

Nope, i don't think it is required... Plain old static HTML pages will do in most cases... But its good to know that you have done everything you can to work it out, so it's a basically issue with yourself...

Web 2.0 can be good but it can be also bad for your business. Many people think that Web 2.0 is just about AJAX and such so they just bloat their Web sites with tons of useless JavaScript which, in some cases, is even counterproductive...

Web 2.0 is not only about AJAX, and imho, you can have a quality website even without excesive use of it.

Personally, I try to avoid use of JavaScript unless it is absolutely neccessary - screen readers, PDAs and cellphones still do not support it.
