That's the first I've ever heard or seen of it. And I do quite a bit of searching with Google. Maybe it's another "trial" thing?
I tried a "Cern" search here and got the same as you.
It doesn't happen for "SitePoint" (still the 'extended' results) or "Google" even. I wonder what the criteria is.
"deviantART" has both. From what I could find by doing
- google "site search" "in results" -
and saw mention of
Google Debuts “Search Within A Site” Search Box Feature




I've seen it a few times now, no idea how to get it.... I'll bet my money on using Google Search within your site is a good start.![]()

It probably has to do with how large a site is with deep links. Deviantart has millions of pages, so a search would be beneficial.

I have seen that several times. Looks like google site search in new interpretation
It has been around for a while now, I think only high authority and very famous sites get it .
