Best Antivirus

A few years ago Norton became very resource heavy so I abandoned it. I won't use McAfee. I tried Avast but didn't like how it worked on my computer. Tried Windows OneCare but it wasn't sufficient. Worked with AVG for a long time but it doesn't work well with Windows Vista. It wouldn't let me access my printers which are either wireless or hooked up via ethernet. There were also problems with Windows Media Sharing. AVG always turned off network discovery and browsing under Vista and their tech support wasn't very helpful. I know it was firewall related but there was no viable solution to get it to work.

Today, All 5 computers on my home network use Norton 360. Its a lot more resource friendly than older versions of Norton and works well on both Windows XP and Windows Vista. Spent a couple months researching, downloading free trials and such before settling with Norton again.

I tried using AVG Free 8. It slowed the computer down so much that I really can't use it. Slowed the computer to a crawl at times.

I'm going to check out Avast now. I hope it is better than AVG. I read about people downgrading from AVG 8 to AVG 7. I don't know if that's a good idea or not. So it's off to the Avast site.

at the end of the day after using and testing testing almost all antivirus, i stick to AVG.

I used Norton 360 when I first got my desktop w/ Vista, but since I'm a student I had no money for renewing it, so I tried a few of the free antivirus programs and decided to go w/ Avast. The Avast plus a firewall has been sufficient for me and much less of a memory hog than the norton was. (at least in my experience)

Avast works well w/ both Vista and XP, as I installed it on my sis' laptop since I'm borrowing it and she didn't have anything installed.

I just uninstalled AVG 8 and rebooted. The computer is much, much faster now without AVG dragging it down. I've never experienced an anti-virus slowing down a computer like that before.

I use ESET Smart Security Suite on one of my machines and Avira AntiVir Premium on my notebook. I have used Avira AntiVir for the last 5 years, excellent product never had an issue with it.

Started using ESET this Feb and I have to say that I really like it, configure and let it do its work.

I prefer using COMODO, firewall and anti-virus in one... It's best no all platform either desktop or laptop(slow or fast), it doesn't use too much memory/resources. In fact it only get almost 8Mb or less of your memory(just like mine)...

I prefer using AVG! I'm using Avira before and I find it not accurate. That's why I switch in AVG. Now I can compared their differences. Seems AVG really works well.

I use Kaspersky Internet Security on desktop PC and notebook for about 5 years. No problems so far.

I have found that eset software doesn't detect many viruses and malware applications while other tools do it without any problems.

Another vote for AVG. Now-a-days I don't even use AV software, only malware removal.
