I also prefer to use AVG the Free one. It is accurate than avira as what I experienced. Also, upgrade your AVG now in 9.0 they have their promo right now.

    Cool

ill give just a point about the most efficient anti-virus when it comes to a large network of computers that dont ve an internet connection & also needs 2b highly protected & managed remotely, 4 me as an administrator of a privet network aive all this in mined & ive 2find the best solution that may made all this easier & 100% efficient & also 100% remotely managed, after a long time i found it its "F-secure antivirus" it comes in a various products versions, for Windows Servers, Windows Workstations, Linux Servers, & much more.. (i use those 3) & of cours the "Policy Manager" that let me do every thing starting from installing te product it self 2 the distribution of the update & the configurations of the clients all in 1 with a 24/24h report monitoring...
its just changed my life really..
hope that i helped all the people who ve 2 administrate a large number of pc's at 1nce with 1 manager
    peace...

I actually purchased Kasperky just under two months ago and ended up having to uninstall it yesterday because it was causing file corruptions on the computer. Once I uninstalled it lots of other more minor problems with the computer optarion also went away.

I'd reported a lot of the problems to Kaspersky within a week of installing but their support was absolutely hopeless. The only question I asked that got a definite answer the answer was incorrect and caused the problem I was trying to avoid.

I have asked for a refund. It will be interesting to see whether they actually give one since that would be the only positive thing I could say about their product if they do.

felgall, it's sad you had bad experience with Kaspersky. I use it for years, and it's the best antivirus I have ever used. Never had any troubles.

I'd been hearing for years how it is supposed to be the best AV there is - which is why I decided to install the security suite on two of my computers. On the one computer it started giving trouble about one week after the original install and just got worse and worse after that until after seven weeks my only option was to replace it. On the other computer it gave some trouble but by turning off about 3/4 of the suite and delaying the suite from starting until after everything else on the system has loaded it works (but with popping up alerts about the things I had to disable to make it work).

Perhaps if I'd just got the antivirus rather than the full suite it may have worked better.

Avast. Hands down. Free, automatically updated, less RAM usage than Norton, catches EVERYTHING and their customer services is AWESOME.

Microsoft Security Essentials Ranks as Best-Performing Free Antivirus

Microsoft Security Essentials Ranks as Best-Performing Free Antivirus

Once the dust had settled, it became clear that not only is MSE one of only three products that both blocks and removes malware well, but it's also very light on system resources.

I recommend AVG Free Edition 8.0. It does it's job, stays out of the way, and doesn't use a lot of system resources. I tried the new Microsoft one, Security Essentials, but it is always bugging me about something and uses 3 times the system resources that AVG used. If I wasn't already getting a MacBook soon, I would be switching back to AVG.

I've used Norton, Mcafee and AVG so far, and I like AVG the best among them. Fast, stable, and it also has free version.
