    Dynamic Search

I am making a user search for a website i am building and i wanted to use XMLHTTPRequests to load the data as soon as the user stopped typing in the input field. I was going to us the onkeyup event but i realized that that will cause too many connections to the server there for consuming more bandwidth and too many database queries because it occurs after the user lets go after any key. Is there any way to make the XHR request occur after like 1/2 a second after the user stopped typing.

    Thanks

I'm creating trouble-free Apache, PHP, MySQL installer, WITSuite,
and use it to setup my development environment.
