RackSpace gets an A+
I did not see anyone talking about Rackspace. We have been using them for a few years and they have great service. They even resolve small issues that they are not supposed to. It's a bit expensive but well worth it for those looking for dedicated server website hosting and who are not technologically advanced. Just my 2 cents from someone paying them lots.

We used Rackspace for a couple years until we brought our hosting inhouse. They were very good but pricey.

Didn't know that. With the traffic MS gets, they'd probably save a lot more if they built an in-house hosting solution. But, it's always nice to leave critical operations like hosting to the experts.
(...now to make my segway to my own experience w/RS)
Yes, Rackspace is great. I switched all of our corporate sites from ipower over to 1 dedicated server with Rackspace last year, and we have'nt had any problems like we had with ipower. In fact, we also had a dedicated server with Layered Tech which was always crashing - mimimum of at least 1 crash a week. THe database was always causing problems. After trying many things, the site was still freezing up on a regular basis. So, we moved that site too (had a php site with full CMS and database) over to the same Rackspace server. Problem solved.
I'd recommend Rackspace to anyone. The extra cost for soundness of mind is worth it!

Nice to hear they're worth the cost, linkin99. I don't want to hijack this thread, but can you share your experience with ipower, maybe in another thread, if you didn't do so already?

Likewise have found Rackspace to be first class.
I had servers with another well known hosting company but have moved completely to Rackspace now (except for one or two mirror servers).
Rackspace are costing me significantly more than what the other company was charging however the support is definitely worth it. They have never refused to help me out even when it technically falls out of the scope of their remit. They are there 24 hours a day, and even in the middle of the night at a weekend they are happy to go the extra mile. You always get through to an expert quickly.

Rackspace gets an A+ from me as well- I've had nothing but good experiences with them. I've dealt with probably 50 or so hosting companies in the past- Rackspace is one of those few companies that consistently stands out.
One time, a client requested that I firewall incoming mail to his server. Not 5 minutes after I did that, a Rackspace tech was on the server, using the talk utility to ask me if I really meant to block all incoming mail traffic.
Only downside is that the customer portal seems to go down for maintenance every Thursday evening. Very annoying.I am a Freelance Linux Consultant.

I've used them, their tech support is quite good, but they are certainly more expensive than other hosts. I wouldn't recommend them for smallish sites--only larger ones
For smaller sites, I usually recommend another place which is right up there in terms of uptime and support.Visit The Blog | Follow On Twitter

It's a smaller organization, and if you were running a large business and demand immediate support and/or overnight support, they may not be quite up to the task.
Rackspace is geared more towards handling large websites, multiple dedicated servers, and certainly has a bigger support team.Visit The Blog | Follow On Twitter

Rackspace is definitely a great web hosting but it's really expensive compare to other ones.

I've heard great things about Rackspace, but its way out of my price range. I go through Cari.net; perfect compromise between quality and price. Good support too.

While I havent used them for their dedicated server service I have used their cloud hosting service. It's pretty for a cloud hosting environment. Worth checking out. I like the fact you can run both windows and linux on one account.
