I've been told Holland is very friendly. But I have never been there

    Well, I'd say Sweden.

Seriously, I love the cold (as opposed to Wayne) and I couldn't live without it so my second option would be either Norway or Finland. I'd like to spend some time in Russia as well.

Other countries I might consider are Australia, New Zealand, maybe Switzerland (lived there for too long I think), Iceland, the UK, Japan (if it weren't so expensive) and... and... hmm, I like Germany (beautiful language).

Personal favourite is Spain - love the scenery, the climate and the people.

New Zealand was great when I last visited too.

Spain is wonderful, as is Gibraltar..friendly people, excellent climate, so much history..

I am especially fond of the little nook of the USA that I live in (West Virginia..almost heaven!). Being surrounded by forests, mountains and nature is just paradise to me!

Canada has some of the most beautiful scenery..and so much untouched wilderness..it's so peaceful!

Irish culture isn't normally portrayed all that well especially in Britain. I'll never forget that Eastenders episode where all the Irish did was drink. I'd agree that that is an element of our culture but there's loads more like our fantastic past, passion for music and our IT sector (Intels largest plant in Europe is 2 miles down the road from me).

I agree with ya about Guinness alright.

I've always wanted to visit Sweden. That's where my family comes from. Canada might be nice as long as it's not Quebec.

    Jeremy,

For the sake of argument, how does one move to Canada?

Maui is beautiful! To sit on the beach and watch whales spouting just offshore, then up Haleakala (10,000+ feet) to see sunset.
    Awesome!

    1. visit and make sure you like it
    2. either get a job and apply for a visa OR just apply for landed immigrancy.

Visa is easier and cheaper, but it generally wears out after a year or two, though you can renew.

While in Canada, don't forget to visit the Okanagan Valley! Vineyards and orchards around every corner, world class skiing, excellent cross-country skiing, the best hiking and camping ever and, of course, good hunting in the north valley. I love it here!

I'd like to see the Canadian Rockies and the Northwestern Territories. I've only been outside the US once, on a drive around the Great Lakes. All I really saw though was fog!

I liked Toronto when I was there in 1993. Nice vodka coolers. Too bad they don't offer them in the states.

The one thing I DIDN'T like was the cost of food and drink there. Even with the US/Canadian exchange, it STILL cost me more to eat & drink then it did in the US at the time. Not a good thing if you're a college student.

It is a REAL nice town, though.

    Food and drink?

A pint is 4$... An entree at the "standard" kind of restaurants around town are 8-15$...

I go out for my wife for a nice mean with appetizers, entree, dessert, drink (main course) and drink (dessert: wine/liquor) and it costs us 50$ including tip.

It's all good for me 1 = $2.27CND (at present)

A Burger King meal is the same numerical value even with TAX so I pay aboot 2 rather that 5...

But of course you can't live on Burger King alone...

My vote's for New Zealand. I'm a bit biased of course Cheap, nice range of wide scenery, fairly high standard of living. The only real problem is it's a bit of a backwater.

Australia is pretty neat but Queensland is far too hot and I'm not too fond of the race thing.

I like Ireland - of all the countries in Western Europe, it's the most like New Zealand. Except with about 6,000 years more history. I drank a lot of Guinness while over there recently...

I've only spent three days in Canada, but must say I liked the look of it. All the Canadians I've met have been really nice people too. I'm actually hoping for a job over there before the end of the year

Jeremy - what's rent like in Toronto?

    A vote for Brazil

I miss Brazil so much. If only I could get paid there half of what I get paid here, doing the same thing

For sheer beauty, either Eyrihadhu (Maldives) or Hong Island (near Phi Phi - Thailand). Both incredlible places.

Well I know the theme was "Nice Countries" but here in Texas we consider ourselves our own nation more or less. If you were not born here your not a Texan. I would never live anywhere but here, I love Texas. It is beautiful and diverse and the women are better looking here than anywhere in the world.

    Talking

    I love Cuba...

Nice and friendly people, nice weather, nice beaches, cheap drinks, cigars,... been there on holiday for x-mas '98 and planning to go there soon again, before the Americans turn it into yet another mass-tourism target!!
