flash SharedObject persistence; does it give cross browser persistence?

reading o'reilly's javascript;the definitive guide book and have just read about the use of flash SharedObject as an alternative to cookie storage. just curious, does this method give cross browser persistence? e.g. user accesses my page using IE and my page asks for their favourate colour. fave colour is stored using flash SO. user quits IE and opens firefox, accesses my same page again. will my page be able to know their fave colour or will it have to ask them again?

    thanks.

ah, i've just read a comment in the long example code at the end of the chapter. apparently this does give cross browser persistence, if the two browsers use the same installation of the flash plug in.
