    forms

    I'm trying to make an order form.
    How do you get the first name, middle initial, last name to go all in a row.
    The site point book only shows them going under one another.

    I'll probably have a lot more questions, but one step at a time.

    Thanks for all your help

    Please post the html and css code (or maybe a link) to get a better response.

    We would otherwise have to create a demo just to answer very general. We like to be more helpful if we can.

    Ooops! Sorry about that. here is the little bit I have.

    Also how do I move the "title" label over to the right so it lines up with the first name.

    Code:
    <form action="" method="post" class="contact">
       <fieldset>
           <legend> Uniquely Yours Pet Attire Order Form </legend>
              <div>
                <p align="center"><strong><em> Get Your UNIQUE Pet Attire Here!

                   </em></strong></p>
              </div>
              <div>
                 <label for="title" > Title </label>
                 <select name="title" id="title" >
                    <option> Mrs. </option>
                    <option> Ms. </option>
                    <option> Miss </option>
                    <option> Mr. </option>
                 </select>
              </div>
               <br />
              <div>
                <label for="fname" class="fixedwidth"> First Name </label>
                <input type="text" name="fname" id="fname" />
              </div>
              <div>
                <label for="minitial" > Middle Initial </label>
                <input type="text" name="minitial" id="minitial" />
              </div>
              <div>
                <label for="lname" class="fixedwidth"> Last Nane </label>
                <input type="text" name="lname" id="lname" />
              </div>
       </fieldset>
    </form>
    her's my css file
    Code:
    form.contact fieldset { border: 2px solid navy;
                            padding: 10px; }

    form.contact legend { font-weight: bold;
                          font-size: medium;
                          color: navy;
                          padding: 5px: }

    form. contact { padding: 0;
                   margin: 0;
                   margin-top: -15px;
                   line-height: 150% }

    form.contact label.fixedwidth { display: block;
                                     width: 120px;
                                     float: left; }
    your site book leaves out a lot of the little stuff, so hope I'm not bugging you people too much.

    The only I know how to move the title label is by putting in blank spaces with &nbsp;.
    That seems a little chincey, there must be a better way.
    Any suggestions

    Also how do I make my fields "required" with the little asteriks, or does this take java coding to do.

    Any help in making a secure order form would be greatly appreciated or maybe point me to someone that will make one for me at a reasonably price.

    Thanks for all your help

    You can use padding-right.

    SitePoint have a dedicated forum for such requests.

    ------------------------------

    I think the only change you need to complete the form is like this, the fixedwidth class isn't necessary as is now:
    Code CSS:
    form.contact label {
    	float: left;
    	width: 120px;
    	padding-right: 10px;
    	text-align: right;
    }
    Also maybe the default select option should be a blank to make the customer select.
