I would love to be able to get to a level of ability where I can sell my photos! I currently take quite abstract shots but they're nowhere near as good as I'd like them to be. =/

Well I actually am a staff photographer for a newspaper, but I would love to shoot sports all the time. It seems like people in this thread want to learn the basics. If I can help in anyway PM me and I will do the best I can.

National geographic photographer for sure! I love reading NG because they always have such in depth shots. It would be a sweet job traveling round to all those exotic places as well. I don't think I'd be into being a war photographer though.

I would love to be a travel photographer, and get to see and photograph exotic locations, and the wildlife as well.

Landscape/cityscape and urban decay for me.
It was my love of photography which got me into web design, as I learned to write html in the late 90s when I started to take my photography more seriously and wanted to display it online.

It's all about capturing the moment. In days gone by, when film stock and flash mechanisms were both one-use only and quite expensive, getting the right shot was the sign of a good photographer.
These days, shots are cheap (read: almost completely free) with digital storage, reusable flash, and rapid shutter speeds and auto-"wind" and focus.
For me I would love to be recognised as someone who can take great "moment" shots. I do that quite well with people and animals.
I guess glamour photography is always alluring, but it has a level of modern fakery that is somewhat soul-destroying...UK Drupal Architect & Consultant :: Kineta Systems

Man I really love some good scenery. I took some great stuff during my trip to Italy this summer. Some of it looks straight out of a painting. But you have to appreciate the form of the human body as well
I've had to learn that through drawing classes.

I would like to be better at photography, full stop. At present I dont have a style or theme that appeals to me yet, however I would like to be good at motorsport photography, and also travel photography. I hope I find myself advancing in those areas, both of which are hobbies in general.
I have invested what I could afford to buy a canon 400d with 18-55 and 70-200 lenses. I have started putting my images on an online stock photo site with the intention to get feedback on my progress in becoming a decent photographer.

I am an inborn Snapshooter. If i would be given a chance to be a photographer. I would choose "News Photographer" like Peter Parker.

Hard to choose for me. Personally, I would like to be a general photographer, capturing family events photos, local city scenery, etc.
Career-wise, I would love to be a news photographer, capturing everyday news photos for people, places, events, etc.

There are some great photographers out there. I'd lean more towards the 'art' side of it all.
Here's something by Philippe Ramette.
