Flash-based navigation?

I've got a client who wants his navigation to be "cool" with some unique flash animation to it.

Is there a standard way of making a flash-based navigation that is standards-compliant and accessible?

I'm not the one creating the flash file, but I'm coding the site and am wondering if there's any recommended method for this. (Perhaps creating an unordered list with text links, then positioning those off screen, then place the .swf into the document? )

As long as you embed via swfobject, and have alternate equivalent html links in the swfobject div then you'll be ok.

Ensure the footer is text links and you will have no problem with google spidering your website. My navigation is flash and I have no problem with google going through the website.
