Help with Apache1.3.24 - Error 405

Hi

I am using a simple form for which ACTION=abc.php and METHOD=post. Apache keeps throwing the error "405 - Method not allowed". A METHOD=get seem to be ok.

There is nothing wrong with the PHP file, coz it runs fine on its own. The problem apparently is with Apache httpd config.

I shall be very grateful to any one who can help me out. I've already visited a couple of apache forums...lots of them had threads with the same prob but no satisfactory solution.

Could you give us more details about your system configuration, what kind of OS are you using, Linux or Windows?

Paul, I apologise for not being more specific in the first instance.

I am running Windows'98 on a P3-866MHz+256MB SDRAM system.

Apache HTTP Server - 1.3.24
PHP 4.1.2
MySQL-Max 3.23.49a

Both the PHP & HTML file are in "C:\server\Apache\htdocs".

ADDENDUM:
* Does Apache have any rules for GET/POST methods calling scripts located in a particular directory?

* PHP allows for setting precedence, via ""variables_order", of GET/POST calling a script with the same name. Do i need to do something in the PHP.ini file too?

I guess the easiest thing you can do is go to http://httpd.apache.org download apache, and install it again. Have you tried it?

:-)...done that twice since I started this thread. I've installed PHP and MySQL too. No Luck!!!

Maybe I need to work on the rules/directives in the Apache httpd.conf. Thanks for all the help.
