Hi,
greetings from Denmark.
I have read the first four parts of Kevin Yank's article on database-driven web sites.
I can't wait to read the rest of the articles. I think it's great!
I was just wondering: Has anyone made a complete system/script that can be used to make a database-driven web site?
Something like the midgard-project.org but aimed at building a complete site consisting of several parts, like a bbs, two or three different databases (movie and book reviews), news articles, upload database, free for all links, etc.
What I am looking for is a complete system that can help me build a big portal.
Anyone?

I don't know of any such projects.
I do know of a search engine script. Its URL is: http://phplinks.destiney.com/. It is written in PHP and uses MySQL, it's still under development. I downloaded the script and played with it. It's pretty good although you really should have some knowledge of PHP as you'll most certainly need to modify it and to add some additional features, although it has some of the features that are necesary for such a script.
I hope this helped you, that's the only thing that I know of.
Lycka till,
Emir.

Such scripts only exist in our dreams, my friend.
Unfortunatly a "turn-key" database driving script in PHP and SQL is basically impossible...every script will require customization for each individual site...

Improbable and maybe difficult but not really impossible.
While your right that each site would require customization, that can be done through template files and setting parameters through a custom interface.
