    I would say focus on your role as developer; stick with developing the product to the best of your ability and try to stay out of the marketing process unless you are asked into it.

    At/Near the end of your work on the project, you could present the client with a short writeup of areas to think about in the future, where you mention potential improvements beyond the scope of your development. One of these items should be your concern about the branding.

    This can plant a seed in the client's mind if they are interested in exploring avenues for growth down the road. If the client feels you gave a fair warning, it will solidify your reputation in his eyes.

    Just say them directly that its not working out at all or give them examples of other good work to make them feel they did something bad

    If your client is not technically educated then u can easily convince him for your own style or just have a meeting with him and show him the latest trends or eithher u can mail him too. I m sure he will be easily convinced and and will be ready to apply ur latest ideas

    Yes, I agree with that. "The job is job". Just finish that job and that's it. It doesn't matter what is your opinion about them project - your work is to accomplish all them needs and wishes.

    There's a primary formula to all business professionals on the sales end of things, and that's "ALWAYS BE UP-SELLING". Every business you encounter (That's successful) has up-selling tactics. Especially as small business owners & freelancers, I think Up-selling should be at the top of the priority list.

    A few Analogies:

    If you guys were auto mechanics hired to do a tune-up on a car & during your work found that the muffler was about to fall off, the transmission was slipping, & the radiator leaked, would you NOT at least inform the customer of those three problems & offer to fix them?

    If you guys were football players & you noticed a few weaknesses on the opposing team, would you NOT tell your coach to aid in winning the game, or would you just be quiet & continue to be defeated?

    If you guys were Web Designers or Programmers & you noticed that a client was using a very outdated design or technique that may be hindering their businesses success rate, would you not at least bring it to their attention, or would you let another designer down the road point it out & gain their future business?

    To just keep quiet about what you know is a problem from your own experience is basically signing your own "OUT OF BUSINESS" certificate. The primary source of solid business is through Repeats & Referrals. Why not milk it for everything you can while actually helping a client succeed?

    Just my 2 cents again, out of millions of others.
