    Hi
    i want to know that what are the ETags and how we can use them in php to optimize our site im using yslow firefox extension always talking about configure Etags how i can configure it.

    The question is should you use them.

    Sending cache-control and expires headers are usually the easiest way to make your pages cache friendly, if that page should be cache friendly.

    Etags are powerful, but more complex to implement, and not always the best choice. You use the right tool for the right job.

    This should help you decide which freshness indicating methods are approariate for your site, if any at all.
