    wordpress blog on my site

Which one will get more visitors:

    example.com/blog/

    or,

    myblog.wordpress.com

    where example.com is my website.
And the second one is a blog on wordpress' domain.

The URL of your site does not determine how many visitors it may receive.

    Thanks...

What I meant is that: Do wordpress blogs have any advantage over blogs at an ordinary domain.

I have started a wordpress blog recently. I am putting appropriate title for the posts and related tags for each post. I am getting considerable traffic. My wordpress blog has started being noticed faster than any other website I have.

How come this blog is getting visitors?

Do you have stats set up on the blog? Look at where that traffic is coming from. Perhaps you're getting some from WordPress.com itself (like the blog search or tags).

There's no preference for one URL or the other by search engines, though.

Yes the wordpress stats show 2 types of traffic sources:

    1. Referrers

    wordpress.com/tag/......

    2. Search engine terms.

    I have another question:

Now I get these visitors from wordpress tags. If I install wordpress software on my site and start blogging at my site, will I still get visitors from wordpress?

I haven't used the wordpress software yet for my site. So I don't know if the blog posts can be associated with tags or not. Is there any option such as the wordpress tags?

    Thanks

Yes, you still get tags. The downloaded version of WordPress has everything the free wordpress.com blogs have and much more.

But you won't get traffic from wordpress.com's tag pages, the ones that have nothing to do with your blog but lists posts from all wordpress.com hosted blogs.

    Minni,

Yes, you can import posts from a Wordpress.com into a self hosted version by going to Manage => Import.

If you Google, there are also instructions on how to redirect the urls from Wordpress.com to the new stand alone blog.
