Which web framework to use ?

I'm new to PHP and want to use Eclipse (or similar IDE that will run on a Mac) to create several websites, but which framework is the better one to use - CakePHP or Symfony ?

I've read bits and pieces on both of them, but is one substantially better than the other ? It's hard to get a truly neutral site that will compare the two.

    Your thoughts are appreciated

My vote goes to Symfony as well. Zend is still to slow.

Slow compared to what? Not too slow to run some of the highest traffic properties on the web. All the framework benchmarks I've seen show that with an opcode cache, the differences in execution time are all trivial compared to the time spent on database and IO operations. In other words, it doesn't matter which of those frameworks you use in terms of speed, the frameworks aren't going to be a limiting factor... doubly so with caching.
