    Auto Complete (i think)

    Hi,

Im not sure if its called auto complete.

    OK ill try to explain.

Say i had a drop down box that contained 100+ items which is ridiculous, I want to make it so the user starts typing in a form field the item they want (in the case of the application im developing, the user will know what they are wanting, so no worries about the user not knowing what they are looking for) and the nearest match appears in the box, eg:

User is wanting "computers", so the user enters "c" and the box displays "commuting", the user continues typing and then they reach "p" and the box now displays "computer".

What I then want to happen is to have the user press or click on the field to proceed with computer, so that the "uter" becomes part of the value and not just "comp".

Also, a list of suggestions which displays underneath would be useful.

Does anyone have any idea what im waffling on about?
If no one does.... then it doesnt matter.

    Thanks
    Michael.

You have to use JavaScript that will send request to the server script that will retrieve the data.

I guess you can look for an implementation here - http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q...=Google+Search

Even if you dont' find it there, you'll get some hints.

Do a search for jQuery autocomplete plugin. They have about 3 really nice implementations.
