Question What's the best way to get more money from a domain name?

Most domainers just park their domains and hope to get some money from them. Yes, they get, but unfortunately, the revenue is nothing compared to what he could be getting from his domain name. Aside from that, parking companies have too many fees that steal precious money from you. So, guys, what do you think it's the better way to get more money from your domains?

Yes, many people develop them. But for the common domainer, developing a domain it's very difficult. Hiring a developer it's not that cheap. So, what can he do?

If you have a few decent domains that are desireable to companies in a certain market, you could consider leasing your domains to them. In fact, there are such domain leasing companies out there that broker these kinds of services.

Do a WHOIS on the domain and try to contact the owner and offer to either buy it or lease it from them. Negotiate the best terms possible for yourself. It's either that or wait for the person to let it expire then pick it up after deletion. (Rarely does it happen that smoothly - esp. if it's a nice name.) I usually just try and contact the owner directly for the best way to negotiate a deal.

    The short answer is.....

    Park,
    Sell,
Develop a minisite (5 - 10 pages) and monetize with advertising
Develop an authority site (100 - 300 + pages) and monetize with advertising
Set up your own blog (not a free blog) using Wordpress and monetize with advertising
    Lease your domain

..there are others. Your options will depend on the domain, your coding skills and how much you have to invest.

Developing is probably always the best way to monetize domains, but not always the most efficient for a domainer. Domains with insignificant traffic should be left parked, unless you want to be promoting the newly developed site as well.

The best way to make money from a domain is to do something with it, the whole point behind buying a domain is to setup a website, if that domain is a premium quality URL which would draw lots of natural visitors, why are you wasting it on adverts and spam when you could develop a good website on the subject and build a genuine business upon it with self-supporting revenue. In my opinion parking domains is stupid, if your going to register a domain just to load it with adverts and leave it to pollute the Internet your as bad as those email spammers who buy up lists of addresses and just start bombing viagra adverts.
