    Embedded table affects size of parent (IE)

    I have a three-column table with hard coded column widths. Everything works fine until I insert a table inside the third column. Doing so increases the width of the column beyond what's specified in the CSS and beyond what even appears necessary (IE only).

    I've shown the page with and without the inside table using debug coloring here:

    - Without inside table
    - With inside table

    I accept it's an IE issue, but I'd appreciate any advice on how to combat it.

    Thanks,

    Andy

    I solved my problems by ditching the layout table and going to divs. Feels like it's more vulnerable to problems, but haven't run across any yet:

    I think your table problem could have been solved by setting the width of the last column to auto.

    e.g.

    Code:
    #col3{
    width:auto;
    }
    That's the problem in using tables for layout because cells won't obey the normal rules of width and height (especially when content doesn't actually fit). You are better off using CSS positioning instead.
