browser issue with background cell images

I have a design that uses images in the background of a table cell. When I view the site with Netscape, the images do not show up. I know of sites that use
background cell images, and they work fine in Netscape.

Does anyone know what might be causing the problem?

i dont think individual cell backgrounds work in nn4 but i think if you use CSS they might

I figured it out. I was using this code:

<TD BACKGROUND="images/main_title_002.jpg" WIDTH=760 HEIGHT=100 COLSPAN=2 ROWSPAN=1><BR></TD>

The problem was, Netscape doesn't display empty cells. SImply adding a line break into the cell made the background image appear.

The one thing you'll have to watch is if you nest another table inside a table with a background image, Netscape will re-start repeating the background image inside the cells of the new table.

CSS may prevent this, I haven't tried that angle, usually just avoid the situation.
