    Logo not linking to home

    Hi all, just doing some edits to a site I didn't initially build and I can't see why the main logo won't A. Link to the homepage even though the link is wrapping it and B. Why the title of "Click to go to homepage" doesn't appear on hover.

    I'm sure they are both linked but can't see the problem!

    Any thoughts would be welcomed

    Here is the link

    Thanks

    Did you try putting the URL instead of just "/" ?

    Hi mike,

    This is what you have, I will highlight the errors in red.
    Code:
    <p id="logo"><a href="http://dev.mediagenic.definitiondesign.co.uk/" title="Click to go to homepage">Mediagenic Creative Communications</a><em></em></p>
    The opening <em> tag needs to be relocated and the alternate title needs to be in quote marks. Corrections made in blue

    Code:
    <p id="logo"><em><a href="http://dev.mediagenic.definitiondesign.co.uk/" title="Click to go to homepage" alt="Mediagenic Creative Communications"</a></em></p>
    That gets everything working, but the relocation of the opening <em> made it loose its position. It was position:absolute, to fix that we need to give position:relative to your #outer div in the css.

    Code:
    #outer{ position:relative; background:url(images/main-top.gif) no-repeat 0 0}

    Try changing:

    <a href="http://dev.mediagenic.definitiondesign.co.uk/" title="Click to go to homepage">Mediagenic Creative Communications</a>

    to

    <a href="http://dev.mediagenic.definitiondesign.co.uk/" class="image" title="Click to go to homepage">Mediagenic Creative Communications</a>

    HI,

    The correct answer is that the em should be inside the anchor as it is an image replacement technique and is placed on top of the text. It needs to reside inside the anchor or it will sit on top of the link and won't be clicked.

    e.g.
    Code:
    <p id="logo"><a href="http://dev.mediagenic.definitiondesign.co.uk/" title="Click to go to homepage">Mediagenic Creative Communications<em></em></a></p>

    What would we do without you Paul, thanks for keeping us inline!

    Simple enough wasn't it

    From -

    .....Mediagenic Creative Communications</a><em></em></p>

    To -

    .....Mediagenic Creative Communications<em></em></a></p>

    Was that a pun
    It's a sure sign that someone spends to much time behind their editor when their normal conversation becomes code isn't it.

    Purely coincidental, but appropriate nevertheless

    I also notice that you are using this to hide some content.

    Code:
    .content h1 {
        position: absolute;
        left: 5000px;
    }
    That's causing a massive horizontal scrollbar and is not actually hiding the content. You should use left:-5000px or better still use my preferred method of top:-999em instead which is much safer.

    Code:
    .content h1 {
        position: absolute;
       top:-999em;
    }
