    Exclamation Invisible hit area?

    Hey guys,

    Just a quick question.

How can I make the hit area of a button larger then the button and active. But not have it activate when you rollover the empty space it is in.

Basically I dont want the button to activate when you rollover where the hit area SHOULD be.

I've attached an example, hopefully it helps.

placed inside the button movie clip a shape (circle rectangle square irregular shape whatever...) and then go to the colour editor and change the alpha of that shape to 0% making it completely transparent. It will still be picked up as part of the button but invisible to the naked eye

if your button is a movie clip, then create the hollow shape your speaking about, turn that into a movieclip and give it an instance name and set the alpha to 0. Now you have your button movieclip with a movieclip inside it. When you add your rollOver event, target the hollow movie clip, not the main button movieclip. then the event only happens when you rollOver the hollow shape, not the button shape.

One more question...what if you want the hit area to be smaller than the all the graphics in the movieclip?

Say it's all hidden until you mouseover a circle on the left side. Wouldn't making the entire movieclip a button activate if you rolled over anything in it?

Make that circle a movieclip with its own mouse actions.
