Guest account running....Need admin account pass reset.

    Hello People.

I have a question. Is there a way to break an admin password in WINXP? A friend of mine created a password in a computer of mine which had only the admin account that shows up when you go to safe mode. Now we are stuck with using the Guest account.

I need to know if there is a way I can set the password to blank so that the admin account is again working.

    Thanks in advance.

well i guess that makes no sense. I mean no admin account except the one that is locked and the account that is open is the Guest account.

    - I don't have any experience with the tool JREAM linked to...but by looking at the video all it does is generate a boot-cd...boot from that and it'll show you the passwords of the user-accounts...no need for a running (admin)user for that...

Just go to the site and have a look there...the LiveCD is probably what you want (no installation)....

Short of using a Linux CD to hack the SAM database, the Microsoft recommended fix for this is to do a repair install of Windows XP using the install CD. This will replace all of the core Windows files, but won't touch the installed software or personal files. As part of the reinstall process, it will allow you to set the password for the administrator account.

And no, this ISN'T a 'clean' install of windows, it's merely a 'reinstall' to repair a problem. You're installing the core files over top of your existing install. I've done this on countless computers I've repaired.
