    Connecting to a databse

i'm trying to get a general idea what would be the steps (from AS point of view) to have Flash register certain statistical data with a database (MySQL for instance).
As a simple example I want to track when a certain button in the flash movie is pressed.

You can use a LoadVars sendAndLoad (as2) to send the necessary data to be processed in the background, or in as3 a combination of URLRequest,URLLoader and URLVariables to do the same.

flash can't connect directly to a database. You need to develop middleware to parse information sent out by flash then from that application send to a database.. there's not to much out there as to how to go about it.

Yes, the stuff I was talking about is in reference to connecting via a server side script.

AshleyK, you can actually connect directly to mysql with an as3 socket but it's inadvisable as the authentication would be insecure.
