I have the ability to run PHP with MySQL with my host. I've asked the admin of the hosting company to email me with the username and password so I can start writing php pages. I'm not sure but I think I already know this info.
Would someone be nice enough to write a short php page that logs into my database webmasterswork_com database and creates a table and then logs back out so I can see if I do have the correct username and password?
It will be very much appreciated.

If you're unwilling to wait a week for Part IV of my PHP/MySQL article series (which will include precisely what you need) to appear on SitePoint.com, you can download PHPMyAdmin from http://www.php.net/ and install it on your Web server with the username/password details you have.
I have purchased the book Professional PHP Programming and have managed to write a small page in php to test and the username and password I have are correct after all.
I'm still looking forward to your article though. The first 2 have been very good so far
