    Pop-up Form in Flash

    Ok some years back I came across a Flash Template that had Custom Pop-Up windows made in it, Kind of like the ones you can move and close. I wish to use the same for my site on a corner to display some Ads and a Form. Can anybody tell me how is that done?

    You can open new customised Windows using javascript and then make use of ExternalInterface in Flash to trigger the javascript function to open the customised window.
    Good Luck!

    You can find loads of tutorials on how to open a pop up window using Javascript. A simple example can be:

    HTML Code
    Code:
    <script language="javascript" type="text/javascript">
    function popitup() {
    	newwindow=window.open('http://www.yahoo.com','name','height=200,width=150');
    }
    </script>
    Flash Code
    Code:
    myMc.onRelease=function(){
    ExternalInterface.call("popitup");
    }
    Good Luck!

    How exactly do I design the Flash part in this? I need to learn about the closing option. I know about the Movement part. And preferrably an inbuilt Pop-up within the flash template would be more useful to me.

    Can you please explain ?

    Will the pop-up be a flash movie clip or a browser window ? If it has to be a browser window then you need to use the method i suggested, the javascript function i have written will lie in the same html file which contains flash.
    Good Luck!

    No it'll be built in. I saw that in a template about 3 years back. I really liked it. It was kind of an inbuilt Flash Pop-up, running within the movie. With a close option, so if user wanted to close that pop-up you can, but the main movie will remain as it is.

    BTW, how are the gillete shaving gell ads that are displayed over the site, Not in the page are displayed on askmen.com? is that Javascript, if it is, than that will work too. Just tell me how to design it though. I am ready to work on anything to get that.

    I visited it yesterday, searching for some cool hairstyles and I saw an Ad in the page. It was Gillete Shaving Gels in the middle. Just the gells cut out, and a close sign on the edge. I wish to create that kind of thing.

    A better example is the character here - http://www.ixwebhosting.com/index.ph...aff-ix-whtop10

    And a sincere Thanks for helping me out in all this.

    Glad if i could help.

    Thats a video embedded in flash with alpha transparency, you can set alpha transparency using After Effects and then convert it to flv and play the flv in flash and make flash transparent by setting the param wmode="transparent".
    Good Luck!

    Ok I lost you on the last part. You mean to say, that I keep the Video in the front playing and video at the back (Flash) made transparent using alpha controls.? How do I make that Close Sign? What action will it have - Remove MovieClip or something?

    The video will be a flv file being played in flash, the background of the video will be made transparent in After Effects. The div containing the Flash part can be placed on top of other elements in the html file by giving it a higher z:index using CSS.

    Yes it can have a removeMovieClip(), if the movie clip having the video player has been dynamically created. The close sign will be in flash itself.
