Thats the good list but if they are all nofollow, whats the use?
I have been posting quality comments on some blogs but sooner or later they turn into nofollow. I think it should have other way around for other blogs.

You could always make something worthy of getting linked to from one of these blogs. Then you'll get the PR and the traffic

The importance of posting comments to get traffic is overblown. If you want to post comment, just post comments. Don't post comment exhaustively with the sole purpose of getting traffic (regardless how good the quality of your comments are). Because the time you spent making comments to get traffic, could be spent on other productive ways to improve your blog/website.

To be honest, you are probably better off (and likely to get more traffic) posting at forums than making comments on blog. Just make sure, you have your website/blog in your signature.

*which reminds me I have to setup my SEO blog and link it here. My several other blogs probably won't interest the crowd here.*

The best way to find out would be to filter out your site traffic log and see how much traffic you are getting from comments you are making at other blogs.

As I write this, I got to the Digg frontpage for the 6th time this month.

Thought I would brag about it a little bit.

Load average at 0.37 0.41 0.28, not bad.

To be ontopic. Links from Digg are also nofollow. I am not too crazy about the traffic, because I know I will not make much money from adsense. But the backlinks I will get, eventually, will help my SEO and pagerank for the next PR update. (I am expecting a PR6), this will definitely lead to links from stumbleupon and delicious and other social medias. Which is something to look forward to.

You should invest some resources on caching.
    It will help a lot.

It might be better than buying the latest quad-core system.

Maybe for serving his WordPress blog, yes. For my W3Counter that runs on those quad-core systems, that'd defeat the whole purpose.

I don't think I will be moving to another system on a differant host. Simply because the hassle of moving is not worth the money I might be saving. My main concern was digg but it doesn't affect me anymore. Also, in the next couple of weeks I will be investing some quality time on a digg-like community; and ofcourse forums and some more addition to my blog network. If I have to get a better hardware, moving to hostgator pro account would be the logical choice for me. It is a xeon with two quad-core processors.

Caching is working good for me now.

ps, just wanted to let others know, I got to the digg front page again about ten minutes ago. same blog. This is the 7th time this month and five times in a row with this blog. Awesome

    The feeling is always good.

H.P. is good but I don't really get its widespread appeal! It is kind of newsy and a little acidic at times!

Google's search result ranking algorithms rely heavily on analyzing links between sites across the web to determine what pages are important and which aren't.

Two things can throw off that analysis and lead to manipulation of search results, which Google very much doesn't want -- people spamming links to their own site all over the place, like in blog comments, and buying links on important sites.

So Google invented an attribute called "nofollow" which they want webmasters to place on links that don't constitute a "vote" for another page.

    Code:
    <a href="http://www.example.com/advertiser-or-user-submitted-link" rel="nofollow">Google Won't Count This Link</a>
They consider this marker to mean the link should not be counted for their ranking algorithms. There are two reasons webmasters voluntarily add these, especially bloggers on links in their blog comments:

    1. By marking the link with nofollow, you don't pass value to it, which gives more influence to the rest of the links on your pages for search ranking purposes.

    2. If you sell text ads and don't mark them with nofollow, Google will drastically reduce the PageRank value shown on their toolbar when visiting your site, making it harder to sell more ads.

Good explanation. I just want to add that. Google penalizes you for text links ads by considering two point.

    1) You sell text links ads by third party ad service; which is easy to determine because of javascirpt of plugin you might be using for this.

    2) Your text links are not relevant. If SiteA links to SiteB, their contents needs to have some relevance (the idea is kind of vague, and no one knows how Google algorithm determines that). That being said if your site is about cars and you links to another site about cars, even as a ad, Google is not likely to penalize you for that.

Some people goes overboard with this and sells 10s and 100s of text links ads, and ends up getting penalized by Google. If you sell ads by textlinkads beware of getting penalized by Google heavily.
