Newbie Needs Advice...
I would like to design a site with the same functionality as "gametab" website especially RSS Aggregation on homepage. However, content would be unrelated to the gaming market.
Looking for advice and any suggestion as to how to build? Can this be done with any opensource CMS? etc. Thank you!

Nick's probably right, Joomla would be the best option. I don't like the look of gamertag though. It looks cluttered and outdated.

I'd agree with that, just don't forget for a beginner building your own theme (if you decide to) can be a bit of a mouthful.

It can be tricky but Joomlas manual is a god send and has all the info you need to tailor your site to your needs.

I personally wouldn't use Joomla! The content management system is not user friendly, and even less so for someone designing the site.

Before I began learning PHP, I used PHPNuke or Wordpress. I tried Mambo and Joomla and found them very hard to manage. Now, I develop my own CMS.

Wordpress = quick learning curve
Joomla = longer learning curve
If you have a test server and want the whole shabang, go for joomla
I am a wordpress avid user, but recognise the strength of joomla for more complex sites
Good luck

I would probably go with Joomla over WordPress. I've recently fallen out of love with WP, so I'm using Nucleus for blog development.
