    Steps for releasing script

    I am developing a news script but know NOTHING about what kind of steps I should take regarding documentation and licensing. I am writing the script mainly because I am bored a lot and want to learn a lot more about PHP and MySQL. When I give out the script, I just have a little README.txt file that basically says "This script is free for your own use, you cannot sell it to anyone, and I cannot be held responsible if it somehow messes your things up".

    What kind of steps should I take in making sure I don't get screwed somehow buy releasing a free script, but also ensuring that I always receive credit for it as well?
