I'm trying to create a border that looks like the metal studs at the top of the world of warcraft site... worldofwarcraft.com. The studs that are on the same level as the "choose a language".
I checked the forums for something like this but found nothing. I hope you guys can help, 'cause I've seen some of the work you guys have done and ...WOW!
Thanks!
p.s.
I tried to put up links to what i have done but since I just joined...it won't let me.

Reason: add extra content
The reason why you cannot post a "live" link is that it requires 5 posts made.
Regarding the metal border - it requires very precise work in close zoom-in.
For the start I'd use the real rivet (or other metal element) photos to see how the light reflects on the surface and edges. After scaling down a rivet photo, I would work on its sharpness and strengthen the light effects.
As for the metal pattern - try to find a photo of a metal surface (http://www.cgtextures.com/ -> Metal) and use it as your background. Adding light and dark lines in Multiply or Screen blending mode will let you create this 3-dimensional effect.
And finally the natural old-metal effect - you can put another layer on top of your metal pattern and change its blending mode (there is a tutorial available - http://www.sitepoint.com/forums/showthread.php?t=167631 - too bad the images are gone now).
Good luck
