    Make a file with the following code in it and run as a php file on the server in a browser.

    Itll tell you under the MySQL section what version.

    PHP Code:
    <? phpinfo();?>

    no, phpinfo() does not tell you what version of MySQL is running. it tells you the version of the client library that PHP is using. see this similar thread (and my post) from a few days ago: http://www.sitepointforums.com/showt...threadid=55389

    you can still find out what version of PHP with phpinfo(), though.

    to tell the MySQL version from the command prompt, it should say when you first connect:

    Code:
    Your MySQL connection id is n to server version: version
