I've been happy with my host but I think I am going to try out Hostgator to spread it around a little bit. Does anyone know of a good coupon site for Hostgator deals?

I hate hostgator.. I have had more problems with them then any other service I have used..

They have a lot of down time some of my site would be down for 48 hours sometimes

They {are bad} for manually loading wordpress.

The basic package only allows one domain name and then they charge you to change it.

Sometimes the support is good and sometimes they are not helpful at all and will leave you hanging then you have to contact them again and hope for a different person.

They have so many Indian and Asian affiliates selling their crappy service that the web is full of false feed back spam.

    Hostgator {is terrible}.

How so? I've manually installed at least 30 Wordpress installations on my Hostgator sites and never once had a problem with it.

It kept telling me I needed a htacess file. So I went through fantastico and it made an htacess file on my files.

I really don’t understand the function of the htacess file?

But I just couldn’t get wordpress loaded with out it would just bring up an error that I needed the htacess file.

Just like others, I do love hostgator too. Been with them for 7 months and never experienced any problem. Their support is awesome and very friendly. I do really recommend them to those who are looking for a better web hosting.

I have been using my own servers for a couple of years.

My brother however needed a few accounts to mess around with and we signed up with HostGator - everything have been running perfect

I have had about 12 sites hosted with hostgator and never once had a problem, plus they always have pretty sweet deals on hosting.

    A+

HostGator and GoDaddy are my prime bet. Both provide excellent customer assistance. I think beyond the service packages they offer (which are also very affordable, by the way), I value support more than anything else. Just yesterday, GoDaddy promptly processed my problem in as simple as 24 hours, when their service level for this type of problem is 2-3 days.

IMHO, 24 hours is terrible! 2-3 days says that they're incompetent and just don't care about hosting clients.

The reviews here have been overwhelmingly in favor of HostGator and just as overwhelmingly BAD for GoDaddy (except as a registrar).

I have tried several host companies before sticking to host gator. Host Gator isn't perfect, but it outperforms other hosting companies by a mile. The price, the features and the support are good.

I just recently started using HostGator for a couple of my sites and I am impressed with it. One thing I really love is that you can chat with someone who will help you right away. Good stuff.

The only complaint I have about HostGatoor is their online chat system. They don't exactly hurry up with getting to the customer quickly.

I have only used Hostgator for about 2 months now, but i have had no problems with them. My only complaint is that i cannot register a .ca domain name with them. I am from Canada and many of my clients like the .ca domain. I don't have a problem with them other wise. Response time for questions is fast and always very clear

Why do some of the ravingly positive reviews about HostGator in this thread sound a little off? Not grammatically incorrect per se but all sound like they are coming from a similar group of people with similar ESL experiences.

I haven't heard of HostGator being badly reviewed. In my experience they have about 20 minutes before they get to me and they almost have no down time. They are top-notch. With Godaddy however, they would be great except for their cms. They use their own form of a cPanel and that was a huge let down for those hosting with GoDaddy.

I have worked with Brent, the owner for years as an advertiser of ours and he is a good person and runs a good company.

You can't make everyone happy but if you look through this thread you will see most people have had a good experience with them.

    Best regards,
    Rodney
