    It's about time, isn't it?

I really wish the push to get major open source projects like WordPress to all mandate PHP 5 as a requirement at the same time happened. It would've done so much to force shared hosts to upgrade less than 4 years after the fact.

Because support is key in the Web hosting business, Hostgator never outsources support.

    I like this ^^

I am currently hosting one of my sites with them at the moment and can recommend them.

Before i even purchased web hosting with them i emailed there sales support with some questions and there service was excellent i would receive emails back within a couple of hours, and when you do become a member, its the same for there customer service too.

They will also let you host Adult sites.

I recently switched over to a Hostgator reseller plan. I would have to say that their technical support is excellent, access to the server is excellent, and load times are excellent. I have used about 5 "reseller programs" over the years and from the first day Hostgator shined above the rest.

I've never had any problems with HostGator. The cost is low - at least compared with UK hosts - and the support is superb.

I have just bought an account at hostgator recently. What I usually look for a host is a chat support since I can review things than on phone support. So far so good.

    Thumbs up

Very nice review, as someone else stated it seems their is not middle ground with HostGator, you either love them or hate them. I currently still enjoy their services.

HostGator's been hosting my sites, mostly WP and they've been awesome so far. My only complaint is lag time with emails, sometimes it's super slow, but usually goes back to normal after an hour or two and it doesn't happen often enough for me to be concerned.

I've been a hostgator customer for about a year, and loved every minute of it. I have never had problems more than a small amount of 5 minute downtime, and run a number of sites off a shared hosting. I cannot recommend them enough, and have recommended them to two friends who like it.

Certainly the best host I've ever had. Responsive, and on great architecture. In fact, I've only heard one person have a problem with hostgator, and that was on Digital Point - typical "My service has been cut off. avoid hostgator" etc. - crap you get on DP, and a user called hostgator signed up saying that he was cut off because he was doing less than wholesome stuff. Needless to say, that DP user went really quiet after that.

    I recommend them completely.

I’ve had good luck with them, I had a couple of problems and they were cleared up fast on the live chat. A little bit of down time not much though, all and all I like them.

    Question...

    I almost love Hostgator, but...

They leave register_globals on by default

((quoting from a PHP related site))
This feature is a great security risk, and you should ensure that register_globals is Off for all scripts
Doesn't this cause huge problems, or extra work for some of you??

You can turn it off via php.ini: http://forums.hostgator.com/php-and-...gister_globals

I didn't (too lazy) and had no issues thus far. Wish me to change in that regard!
