Yes you can add adsense to a WordPress blog. There are plugins which can do it, although you are usually better off adding the code directly to your theme.

It's GPL software, so you can do whatever you want to it.

You may have been looking at blogs on WordPress.com in which case they only show ads provided by Automattic, they don't allow users to add extra advertisements on there.

There was this wordpress plugin that added adsense randomly to random locations for each post to provide variety, so people won't go ad blind. I forget what the name was, but it was somewhere in the wordpress database for plugins. I thought it was pretty cool.

is your blog hosted under your own domain or it is hosted in wordpress.com, if it is hosted in wordpress.com then you wont be able to put any third party ads in your blog.

Yup, only self hosted (not on wordpress.com) blogs can have third party advertising in.

You don't actually need any plugins to insert your adsense code - simply copy and paste the code into your template files - or use an include.

Another way to monetize your blog is to do affiliate sales.
The difference is that with affiliate sales you only get paid if someone buys something.
But, you can make allot more from affiliate sales.

Yes you can use adsense with wordpress. If you have wordpress hosted on your custom domain, then obviously you know the stuff for how to do it. In case blog is hosted on wordpress then you can insert ads between your posts by putting code before "show post" part in the index page and single post page.

I also have two blogs (as in signature), but they are on custom domain.
