which countires are in your block list?

Hi, I'm trying to find a reliable source for a list of countries that it's fairly ok to send my goods to.

Of course some scammers do live in the USA and UK and Japan, but I'm looking for the black list of countries, the ones that it's not worth to start doing busienss with.

After blocking the Nigeria and several other African countries, I still wonder which ones I should be careful from.

What do you mean? Couldn't you just specify that you don't do business with X countries? What type of a site are you running?

There's a huge amount of fraud from Russia and Nigeria for sure. Countries like North Korea are usually blocked as well, not that it matters a lot, I think barely more than 0% of the country has internet access.

You'll have an easier time creating an allow list than a block list, just pick the 15 or so countries that you would consider shipping to and disallow any orders from outside those.

There are only a couple places I've decided not to ship to, and Nigeria is one of the main ones. We've had some legitimate order inquiries from there too, but it's probably a stereotype from the spam emails I get, but I just have a bad feeling about it.

I had reservations sending an order to China... not a big fan of the country & communist government, but we did. It wasn't the guy's fault he lived there, and he's a great customer and has ordered from us 2 or 3 times now.

South Africa is another country that's very problematic with shipping... Even Amazon.com recently stopped shipping except via courier (DHL/FedEx/UPS).

we do not blacklist any countries, but from certain ones we accept only secure methods of payments

We have a very small blacklist, but a rather large greylist.

Like Matt said, shipping fraud can be more of a problem than credit card fraud. There are some countries that are we require special shipping methods to.

Let me tell you something. Sometimes scammers from Nigeria place an order to be shipped in the states. If you block them from the site [apache] they will just use proxy to get in the site via a US IP. If you don't block them, you'll see they are from Africa and cancel the order.

So you shouldn't black list any country, because then they will bypass it.

yes you are right! beware of South Africa.. I think South Africa tops Nigeria today in Africa. I'm not sure though but i have heared few cases in India.

One site has a sideline of dating for local people on it - in the UK's Northeast - but I get people joining daily from overseas, mainly from these two countries... and then the "I love you" messages and winks start rolling in and in and in and in and in and in and in...

One site has a sideline of dating for local people on it - in the UK's Northeast - but I get people joining daily from overseas, mainly from these two countries... and then the "I love you" messages and winks start rolling in and in and in and in and in and in and in...

According to the dateline credit card fraud special, the scammers surf dating sites like these to lure people into fake relationships so they can ship to their houses then send the goods on to third world countries from there.

We have chosen the "white list" route of allowing certain countries to be shipped to.

We initially started off with a smaller list and then put a little note next to our shipping drop down menu in the checkout that told people how they could request their country be added.
