How do i undo the Installing of Ruby on mac?

In the book "Build Your Own RUBY ON RAILS Web Applications," by Patrick Lenz, I get an error message stating that:

<curl: (9) Couldn't cd to pub/1.8
curl: (6) Couldn't resolve host ' >

This error message is due to the step i entered after this command line:

curl ft(i omitted the "p" because i dont want it to appear as a webpage because sitepoint wont allow me to enter an url)://ftp.ruby-lang.org/pub/1.8/ruby-1.8.4.tar.gz \ | tar xz

on page 25 of the book. Can you help me please. Also if i can't resolve this then please tell me how to undo this install procedure?

Just download Ruby through a browser instead: http://www.ruby-lang.org/en/downloads/

Ruby 1.8.4 is old anyway.
